This is of particular significance as it means that applicants can apply for any role, entirely through the medium of Welsh.
‘PLEASE WRITE TO ME IN WELSH OR ENGLISH EMAIL SIGNATURES’
They have added a bilingual email signature and a ‘Please write to me in Welsh or English’ banner on the large majority of our Welsh speaking staff members’ email footers. This makes it clear to Welsh speaking customers, which members of staff can correspond and answer their queries in Welsh.
CATERING MENUS AVAILABLE IN WELSH
They make sure all Catering outlets across the railway (Spooners at Porthmadog Harbour Station, Cafe De Winton at Caernarfon Station and Tearoom at Tan-y-Bwlch) have bilingual menus, either on request or on the same sheet. This means that customers in any of our catering outlets have the ability to view our food and drink options in Welsh.
BILINGUAL SOCIAL MEDIA BIOS
They have translated all our social media profile bios, (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube) which means followers and visitors to our different pages can read an overview of ‘who we are’ in both English and Welsh. First impressions are important and we wanted all our future social media page visitors to be greeted by a bilingual bio.
WELSH LANGUAGE SKILLS ENCOURAGED
They have a responsibility to encourage the use of the Welsh language among our staff and volunteers and therefore, on the large majority of our permanent and seasonal job vacancies, Welsh language skills are listed as desirable.
