The Students’ Union provides a variety of activities and campaigns in Welsh, including:
- A full-time elected officer responsible for representing the Welsh language
- A dedicated forum for Welsh speakers to voice their opinions and share feedback with the University and the Union.
- Welsh-focused events organised to promote the Welsh language and culture, including celebrations such as the Eisteddfod, Shwmae Su’mae Day, St Dwynwen’s Day, St David’s Day, and Welsh Language Music Day
- All students can fully participate in democratic forums through the medium of Welsh.
Outside of events, the following correspondence and marketing elements are provided bilingually:
- Every student has the right to send and receive correspondence in Welsh.
- All signage and main posters in the building are bilingual.
- Emails sent to a large portion of students are bilingual and respect students’ language preferences. This includes external advertising emails, blogs, and newsletters.
- They have a Welsh-language X (Twitter) account @undebmyfyrwyr. All other social accounts @cardiffstudents combine Welsh and English.
