The Education Workforce Council (EWC) is the independent, professional regulator for the education workforce in Wales.
The EWC provides a range of bespoke workshops, both in-person and online, that can be delivered in both Welsh and English. Requests for these workshops can be made via the Invite us to your event page on its website.
Educators Wales (which is delivered by the EWC) promotes careers across Wales’ education sector, helping grow and sustain a bilingual education workforce. Aligned with the Cymraeg 2050 strategy, this work supports efforts to increase the number of Welsh-speaking educators and strengthen the use of Welsh in education.
The EWC publishes their Annual Education Workforce Statistics for Wales. This includes data on the Welsh language skills of the education workforce in Wales across schools, further education, adult and work-based learning, and youth work settings.
The EWC holds a number of events throughout the year including masterclasses, statistics briefings, and annual lectures. Speakers are encouraged to present in Welsh where able and attendees are invited to contribute in Welsh.
The EWC actively nurtures a workplace where the Welsh language is valued, visible, and used every day. Staff are encouraged to learn, develop, and practice Welsh with colleagues and are issued with quarterly Cymraeg ar Waith newsletters promoting the language, sharing compliance tips, and highlighting cultural events.
