Notes
This is the form recommended in the national standard reference work, A Gazetteer of Welsh Place-Names (University of Wales Press, 1967). One should not deviate from its recommendations without good reason.
The hyphen is used when a preposition (yn/ym/ar) occurs between two other elements. In such names hyphens are used before and after the preposition in order to highlight the individual elements and ensure correct pronunciation.
Proper nouns are usually capitalised when they are preceded by a definite article or preposition. Rhos here refers to the commote and not to a general 'rhos' or moor; therefore the name should be capitalised as it follows the Welsh preposition yn (English: in).
