This is the form recommended in the national standard reference work, A Gazetteer of Welsh Place-Names (University of Wales Press, 1967). One should not deviate from its recommendations without good reason.
The dieresis must be shown on the penultimate stressed -i- as the final element of this name is longer than a disyllable. This is important in order to ensure correct pronunciation and follows the rules of Welsh orthography.
