Welsh language schemes are statutory documents that set out commitments made by public organisations about how they will treat the Welsh and English language on the basis of equality.

The Commissioner is responsible for their statutory approval.

  • UK Government ministerial departments
  • Non-ministerial departments
  • Agencies and other public bodies
  • Housing associations

Some of these organisations prepare Welsh language schemes on a voluntary basis.
